Higher potential yields and WUE resulting from climate change will only translate into improved actual yields and WUE if farmers can adapt crop management to changing environmental conditions and yield potential, especially planting time, nutrient management and pest and disease control. Despite the fact that potato is a heat - sensitive crop grown under relatively warm conditions in South Africa, the impact of climate change on yield and WUE is expected to be positive in most regions.
