The US is stalling the distribution of US$2.6-billion (R47-billion) in climate finance to South Africa, stoking concerns the money might be blocked outright, people familiar with the situation said.
The average banana price increased by a massive 18% to R14 per kilogram or R252 per 18kg box and is now 44% higher than a year ago with the current volumes about 30% lower than a year ago. The lower volumes are due to less imports from Mozambique and the political tension they have there.
