  • Africa’s trade is still dominated by exports of raw agricultural commodities and imports of processed goods, which limits socio-economic growth and the development of new competitive advantages. Adding more local processing would help create jobs, increase value, boost export earnings, and support import substitution.
  • Zambia’s duty-free window for wheat imports remains open until the end of August. Traders have already imported around 80,000 to 90,000 metric tonnes during this period. The real game-changer is the 2026/27 wheat crop. Zambia is currently experiencing excellent growing conditions.
