The new Fendt Momentum planter was one of the brand’s main attractions at Agrishow 2019 in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo.

The Momentum is an intelligent planter and one of the largest on the market. “With fertiliser distribution on each row the planting performance will be up to the best-in-the-industry level,” says Fendt.

Smart Frame and DeltaForce
In addition to the Precision Planting technology, Momentum adds Smart Frame with DeltaForce. This technology allows each row to be in constant and uniform contact with the ground, regardless of speed or variations in terrain, allowing more even planting and germination and improved yield, according to José Galli, director of Fendt for South America. Galli also said that sales will commence only next year: by 2019 about 30 machines will be produced for testing with customers.

The Momentum planter offers models of 40 rows with and without fertiliser distribution, in spacing of 45 cm. It can also be configured in spacing of 50 cm, with reduction of 2 rows in its nominal model.

In this model of 40 lines, the capacity of fertilisers is 5,300 kg. The sampling rate (seeds percentage and repeated failures) of the new planter can reach 99.6% in corn, even at higher planting speeds.

4.3 meters wide when folded
It is the largest planting machine with distribution of fertiliser for sale in Brazil. When folded the planter is only 4.3 meters wide – the smallest transport width of the category, without the need to disassemble any component.

The Momentum features vApply Granular, a Precision Planting technology that guarantees the most accurate application of fertiliser in every planting row. Like all other Precision Planting technologies, vApply is controlled by the 20 | 20 Seedsense Generation 3 Display. In this display, all planter-related information is controlled in real time.

Variable seed and fertiliser rates
With the use of crop maps generated with software like Climate FieldView, the display also makes it possible to work with variable seed and fertiliser rates; analyse seed application depth; monitor the soil, the pressure applied to the soil in each one of the rows and the contact of the row with the ground.

Fendt Smart Frame
Linked to the system that comes with vApply Granular is the Fendt Smart Frame. This device ensures that all rows are always in contact with the soil and controls seed depth for even planting.

With it, the planting rows are not attached directly to the planter chassis, but to a bracket split into 3 sections. Each section is driven by 2 hydraulic cylinders each to keep the rows always touching the ground.

In addition, there is the DeltaForce, which, through sensors, guarantees the necessary pressure to cut the straw and apply the seeds at the same depth. “Brazilian agricultural producers with large-scale plantations will benefit from the technology this planter has on board to deliver a perfect planting,” says Fendt.
