The European Union – among a host of other countries – is seeking to implement urgent policy measures to combat the effects of climate change.





Many people still think of climate change as a phenomenon that we will only face in the distant future.

Earlier this month envoys from several rich countries held talks in South Africa to discuss a deal they want struck in time for the UN climate change conference (COP26) that opens in Glasgow at the end of the month.





The enormous, unprecedented pain and turmoil caused by the climate crisis is often discussed alongside what can seem like surprisingly small temperature increases – 1.5C or 2C hotter than it was in the era just before the car replaced the horse and cart.
