At the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg (November 2025), South Africa delivered a landmark outcome despite the absence of the United States. Under the theme “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability”, the Johannesburg Leaders’ Declaration was adopted on the very first day – a break from tradition – committing the world’s biggest economies to fight global inequality, reform international finance to ease debt burdens on developing nations, accelerate renewable energy transitions, and place Africa and the Global South at the heart of inclusive growth.

AgriSA's provincial organisations from areas heavily affected when large volumes of water are released from the Vaal and Bloemhof dams will now jointly approach the Department of Water and Sanitation, along with AgriSA, to negotiate a better flood and dam level management plan. Farmers along the Vaal and Lower Orange rivers have already suffered millions of rands in damage due to the current practice of opening sluices after heavy rains in line with the existing plan.Unanimity was reached last week during AgriSA's specialist committee meetings in Pretoria.

Farming isn’t your typical 9-to-5 gig. It’s a lifestyle that demands early mornings, late nights, and plenty of time operating machinery or walking the land. That’s where Audiocast shine. They’re hands-free, portable, and don’t care if you’re covered in dirt or steering through a muddy field. Unlike a book or a video, a Audiocast doesn’t ask you to stop what you’re doing—it joins you in the cab, the shed, or wherever the day takes you. And farmers are listening. Surveys suggest that a significant chunk of the agricultural community—some estimates say over a third—tune into ag-related podcasts regularly. Whether it’s catching up on market trends, learning about the latest in soil health, or just hearing a good story from another grower, these audio shows have become a go-to resource.

About 720 million people continued to experience hunger in 2024, and 2.6 billion people were unable to afford healthy diets. It is this reality that compelled the G20 Leaders’ Declaration in Johannesburg to correctly shine a spotlight on global food insecurity challenges.

A year after Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe advocated for slashing petrol and diesel prices to R14 per litre—citing their role in inflating living costs and urging state intervention for affordability—these discussions with the National Treasury have borne no fruit.

In a candid open letter Nick Serfontein—chairperson of the Sernick Group and a prominent Bonsmara stud breeder sounds the alarm on the escalating foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreaks threatening to devastate South Africa's cattle industry.
South Africa’s Department of Agriculture has unveiled strict regulations for meat analogue products, effective July 18, 2026, under the Agricultural Product Standards Act.

Eskom is sounding the alarm on a deepening municipal debt crisis that threatens its R250 billion government bailout and turnaround efforts: total arrears have surged to R105 billion as of September 2025 (up 27% y/y and 11% in H1), driven by weak collections, high electricity/water losses from poor maintenance, and inadequate credit controls.

Using pesticides on coffee is neither inherently good nor bad; the outcome depends entirely on how they are applied. When used correctly — right product, dosage, timing, and only when necessary — they protect yields from devastating pests like coffee berry borer and leaf miners while keeping residues within strict international Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs).
